Company Formation in Tajikistan

Tajikistan is the cheapest and simplest of the six to enter. Registration runs through a single-window system in three to five working days, the tax authority charges nothing to register you, and the minimum capital is close to nominal. What it does not offer is a route to residence through investment.

Be clear about this before you start

Tajikistan has no residency or citizenship by investment programme. Forming a company does not entitle you to live there, whatever you invest.

What a company does give you is a lawful basis to apply for a work permit if you will manage it yourself. That is a different thing from residence by investment, and it is granted on the role, not on the money.

Setting up the company, step by step

  1. Check the name and settle the activities the company will carry out.
  2. Appoint at least one shareholder and one director. Either may be an individual or a company, and either may be foreign.
  3. Prepare the founding documents — charter and founders' decision, with certified translations of foreign passports and corporate papers.
  4. File through the single window. Registration is handled by the tax authorities and normally takes three to five working days. Express handling is available.
  5. Register for tax and obtain the company's identification details.
  6. Open the bank account.
  7. Pay in the charter capital — you have twelve months from incorporation.
  8. Apply for a work permit if a foreign national will manage the company. Allow thirty days for the Migration Service to review a complete application.

Where Tajikistan makes sense

It suits a trading or service company that needs a lawful, low-cost presence in Central Asia, run day to day by a local manager, with the owner visiting rather than living there. It is a poor choice if your real objective is a residence permit — for that, look at Uzbekistan's investor routes or Kazakhstan's business visa instead, and we will say so plainly if that is what you are actually after.
